A Word Of Thanks And Farewell…

Effectively immediately, I will be stepping down from managing this site and blogging altogether. Due to a few life issues (nothing serious), I will not able to continue running this site or start another. This decision was not made lightly and disappointed that I have to but will be for the best.

On the bright side, last month, my workplace brought in a new employee as a member of my team. We got to speaking and found that we had a common interest in anime and a few other things. After mentioning my site, he also wanted to try his hand at blogging himself. Ever since he has been hard at work putting together his site and wanted to spread the word. I can’t give the information just yet since he told me things will not be ready until sometime in March but will post the details once given.

Thank you again for all the support and best of luck!

At long last we are entering the last assortment of anime titles for the year: the Fall 2019 season. I can’t really express in words how quickly the year has gone by. The Manga Under The Lens Project

Original Work | Artist: yajirushi (chanoma) | Source: https://safebooru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=2700204

The sweltering summer heat and pursuit to stay cool always get me in a certain mood. The mood to do absolutely nothing! Often spending most of my time gaming or goofing often, I made it a ritual to read come August to prepare me for the school year. With those days long gone and finding manga, light novels, and the occasional book non-related to the aforementioned cross into my hands nowadays when free time permits, I decided to start the tradition anew with a different purpose and goal in mind. Finally getting ready to start my new job position in earnest this month and my time going back to what it was, I decided to do something I a little different for the rest of the year.

Donate To Kyoto Animation’s GoFundMe

By now, I’m sure the news of the arson attack that was carried out against Kyoto Animation has made the rounds. According to the reports, an unidentified 41-year-old male doused gasoline inside the building and some splashed on workers before shouting the phrase “You die!” and setting it ablaze. As of writing this, there have been at least 33 people cited as dead. Known for their work with titles such as K-On and Violet Evergarden, my heart and sincerest prayers go out to the victims and their families. If you would like to show your support, Sentaifilmworks has made a Gofundme page in response to the relief of the studio and affected parties. You can find the link here in order to donate.

Anime Spotlight: Serial Experiments Lain

Hard to believe that it has been 21 years since today that Serial Experiments Lain first aired. Created by Yasuyuki Ueda and staffed by Ryutaro Nakamrua (director), Yoshitoshi ABe (character designer), and Chiaki J. Konaka (screenplay writer), the science fiction series follows middle school student Lain Iwakura as she discovers the communication network called the “Wired”. With musings on identity, real vs virtual, and the essences of technology and what role it plays in the life we live, the series is a tour de force of philosophy and storytelling that remains undisputedly relevant even to this day. So if you are ever in the market for late 90’s anime that is truly ahead of its time, this would be the one to pick up!

Serial Experiments Lain can be streamed through Funimation’s official site or purchased at their storefront or everywhere anime is sold.

Wow, how much more do we have to go? Only six more months left in this year? Time really flies by! Having numerous events occur in my life both good and bad since my last update, I’m happy that July and part of August will allow me some semblance of downtime and relaxation that I desperately need. Knowing that I have a few outstanding (tentative) projects in the wings, there will be a few changes. What changes you ask? I know you didn’t ask, but let’s discuss the rundown after the jump. Does anybody actually read anything I post? Probably not…

Attempting to at least have these updates done near the beginning of week (or 2nd day of the month), the opportunity still gives me chance to greet the month of May. Hard to believe we are almost at the halfway point of the year and with my birthday being on the 8th, it is a harsh, but clear reminder that time waits for no man. So what is on the docket for this month? Well, a lot actually….so might as well make this for June and July as well.
