Title Screen For Rio Reincarnation

With less than a week away from the release of Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation here in North America and Europe, I thought I put together a small informational guide regarding the series. As a long-awaited and requested item for most fans of the genre and followers of the franchise alike, it is understandable that this might be the first contact for some that are genuinely interested but never interacted with the source material or anime. In the midst of finishing up my own playthrough of all three games in the collection, this “primer” of sorts might be useful to those wanting to know what is all about and if the series might be for them.

Anime Spotlight: Serial Experiments Lain

Hard to believe that it has been 21 years since today that Serial Experiments Lain first aired. Created by Yasuyuki Ueda and staffed by Ryutaro Nakamrua (director), Yoshitoshi ABe (character designer), and Chiaki J. Konaka (screenplay writer), the science fiction series follows middle school student Lain Iwakura as she discovers the communication network called the “Wired”. With musings on identity, real vs virtual, and the essences of technology and what role it plays in the life we live, the series is a tour de force of philosophy and storytelling that remains undisputedly relevant even to this day. So if you are ever in the market for late 90’s anime that is truly ahead of its time, this would be the one to pick up!

Serial Experiments Lain can be streamed through Funimation’s official site or purchased at their storefront or everywhere anime is sold.

Every single field or specialty has its own layered expressions that become something of a coded language to those involved. The more time spent exploring and interacting in those worlds, the more language, terminology, and actions used will become second nature. Remembering my first time diving into anime, it was something of a culture shock coming across different types of things ingrained in both fact and fiction that I kind treat like an everyday occurrence now. No matter how much I try to forget or ponder it, the ideas and concepts were once nothing more than foreign to me.

Wow, how much more do we have to go? Only six more months left in this year? Time really flies by! Having numerous events occur in my life both good and bad since my last update, I’m happy that July and part of August will allow me some semblance of downtime and relaxation that I desperately need. Knowing that I have a few outstanding (tentative) projects in the wings, there will be a few changes. What changes you ask? I know you didn’t ask, but let’s discuss the rundown after the jump. Does anybody actually read anything I post? Probably not…

[Manga Review] O Maidens In Your Savage Season Vol. 1

O madiens in your savage season cover v1

Volume 1

1 WORD. 3 LETTERS. RHYMES WITH “VEX.” When Kazusa enters high school, she joins the Literature Club, where she leaps from reading innocent fiction to diving into the literary classics. But these novels are a bit more…adult than she was prepared for. Between euphemisms like fresh dewy grass and pork stew, crushing on the boy next door, and knowing you want to do that one thing before you die–discovering your budding sexuality is no easy feat! As if puberty wasn’t awkward enough, the club consists of a brooding writer, the prettiest girl in school, an agreeable comrade, and an outspoken prude. Fumbling over their own discomforts, these five teens get thrown into chaos over three little letters: S…E…X…!
